Dotting the Blank Page

I sat on the floor of our room, my legs crossed on the cold, white tiles. The door wide open, the curtain drawn up. The faint sunlight that passed through the thick clouds filled up the room that never really saw the sunlight for months or years.

I Love The Rain More Today Than Yesterday

I stood at the reception, looking at the jetty and the gray clouds above it. I heard the sound of the faraway thunder and the soft noise of the waters pushed by the strong Eastern current. I walked to the jetty and then I saw the lighting. It scared me a little so I walked back to the reception where I under a safe roof. Continue reading “I Love The Rain More Today Than Yesterday”

Tea Time at 9pm

It’s been a week since Ramadan started and there had been changes with our meal times.

Breakfast or Iftar for those who fast will be at sunset which is probably around 6pm. Dinner time for non-Muslims is from 7pm to 8pm and there will be short eats at 9pm, tea time for those who fast and actually, even for those who don’t. And then there will be supper, which is actually their Suhour at 11:30pm. Continue reading “Tea Time at 9pm”

30 Seconds Daily

So, I just realized that my Sony FDR-X3000 has a time-lapse function. Meh. After using it for years as an underwater camera, I just figured out a new use for it. This just shows how bad I am with gadgets. Again, meh. Continue reading “30 Seconds Daily”

Extended Quarantine + Octopus Hunting

The weather has been really good lately. The sun keeps on shining brightly. The horizon is like a mirror in between the sky and the water. The gentle breeze cools us down in the afternoons. The palm trees as tall as ever. A bit of rain every now and then. Some dead leaves dotting around the white sandy beach, giving us an autumn feeling in the middle of summer. Quarantine Days Are Over + Heal The World Song Cover

I was quite sad this morning. As I was heading from my room to the canteen to eat breakfast, I saw half of the island people (resort staff) were heading to the ferry to (finally) leave our resort and go back to their home islands. Day 10 to 14 – What Now?

Day 10: Ebe Dancel’s Music

I couldn’t sleep that night. It was already late. But since I couldn’t sleep, I took my phone and started searching for Ebe’s music videos on youtube. So random. His songs are timeless. And as I listened to song after song after song, I felt different emotions. Heartbreak, joy, hope. And finally, I wanted to play the guitar and sing his songs. But it was already about one in the morning and my room mate is deep in her sleep. I was thinking to go out of the room and find a place by the beach but I thought, it’s quite strange. So I just kept watching his videos and wait for sleep to come.

Day 9 – Turtles All the Way Down and Other Books

Since we have less work and more offs, I had more time to read. And I take only two to three evenings to finish a book so here are the recent three.

Day 5, 6, 7 & 8: The Loner and Other Stories

Day 5 – The Loner

It was my lone working day as my colleague was off on Wednesday. I’m usually productive when alone as there are less distractions. Nobody asks anything, nobody chitchats and the office is quiet. Continue reading “Day 5, 6, 7 & 8: The Loner and Other Stories”

Day 4 – Sarah The Little Monkey

Sarah was born to an Italian mother and a Maldivian father. I would say, she is one of the luckiest kids I’ve ever seen. Her father works with us and so she visits the island on weekends and spends the days on the sea. During school holidays, she goes back to Italy and travels around Europe to walk along the forests, farms and the likes. What a childhood right? Continue reading “Day 4 – Sarah The Little Monkey”
