~ A letter to friends who are starting anew ~

I know it’s not easy where you are. You must be full of doubts and fears as you cry yourself to sleep; that’s if you can sleep at all. Stress might be keeping you company all night, for all I know.

You are venturing into the unknown, out of your comfort zone. You are going to start a new job, a new life with strangers but don’t worry. You can turn some of those strangers into friends. Just be careful and do not trust them all. Choose who to trust.

You might be asking yourself now if you have made the right decision. And I tell you this, don’t be afraid of making mistakes. Learn from them and keep trying. Trust yourself. I know you can do it.

If all else fails, try again. There’s no limit to how many times you can try. The only limit is what you give yourself.

Sadly, I won’t be there to comfort you when you feel helpless. I cannot rub your back when your worries overflow and turn into tears. But I am just here like a distant star watching over you.  You can always reach out to me, and I’ll try to give off light in your darkest days.

It’s not easy to start over again. You have to go back to square one and learn all your ABCs and 123s, but I know you can do it. You are stronger than you know. You deserve better than you know. You only have to believe in yourself.

This pandemic trampled upon all our plans, hopes, and dreams. It broke our hearts in so many ways. It made us lose some and gain some. We are still in tough times, but one day or another, things will get better. This cannot go on forever. We have to be a bit more patient. We have to keep extending our ropes until the day comes when we can finally drop our anchors on a safe harbor until the time we can meet again and talk and laugh over coffee or wine. The day we can walk on the streets freely, without scares. The day we can reminisce our lives during the lockdown and how we successfully came out from that dark period.

Time passes by as quickly as water flows on our palms and before we know it, we’ll be together again. We totally deserve that treat.

Until then, stay strong. Never give up. I am with you all the way.
