Today, an agent is visiting our resort for a familiarization trip and I have to meet and greet the person, show her the resort and probably host her for dinner and drinks. My job sounds fancy, at least to some because I am one of the few staff in the resort who is privileged to eat and drink in any of the restaurants whenever an agent or media person visits the resort.
However, today, I woke up in an I-don’t-want-to-talk-to-anyone mood and seriously, I don’t want to meet anyone, flash a pleasant smile and show hospitality. I am not by nature a sociable person but I was able to learn and develop it being in an industry where socialization is one of the core values.
There were times I have hosted rude, arrogant and ungrateful b@$***ds and the experience wasn’t so nice at all but there were also great times when I hosted amazing bloggers and they had a lot of interesting stories to tell. They did the talking while I did the listening and ensured that their glasses were topped up with wine. More wine, more stories.
Some days, I just don’t feel like doing this part of the job but reminding myself that this is why I have money on my pocket every month gives me a slight kick in the butt to do it.
I don’t want to sound so much of a whiner here, all I’m saying is like you, I’m just a human who may, at any morning, wake up on the wrong side of the bed. It is just up to us whether we keep moving left or we take a turn and make things right.
In the meantime, I have to go and prepare myself to meet and greet my guest, flash a pleasant smile and be the hospitable person that I should be.
I’d love to hear from you!
