An Indonesian author said, his books are like his children. On my case since I haven’t published any book yet, my posts are my children.
Each of my posts has their own story and character, just like kids. Some of them are too emotional, some too hilarious and some are full of angst. Though its not good for a mother to have a favorite child (or children), I do have several posts that are closest to my heart.
Sa Kahabaan ng Aurora Boulevard and Biyaheng Cubao are my most favorite posts because they are both like memoirs. Reading them brings back a lot of different feelings and memories.
Si Kiko At Ang Kaniyang Creative Ways of Pagpapatiwakal and Love Is Never Been are my achievers as they were read on air by the DJs of Love Radio as well as Bangketa which was recently read on air too. This post, Bangketa, is actually my entry to a short story writing competition which of course did not win. I never read it again since then as I felt that the story wasn’t good.
I woke up one morning with a beep from my phone and saw Aila‘s post on the facebook group about my post that was read on air. I wondered which post was read as I haven’t written short stories for a while (the station only reads short stories). I quickly checked the radio station’s facebook page (as they usually post what they read on air) and was a bit shocked to see “Bangketa” on it. I kind of expected some negative comments about the story but I was thankful to see such nice comments from the listeners.
Winning is not everything. Reaching out to people and touching their lives by what we write is something.
Moving on to the giveaway, I thought of asking you guys about your favorite post as I want to know how do you guys feel about my posts and stories and I am so thankful to those few who joined and took time to comment.
I was a bit surprised though as I thought you guys would remember my funny posts but it turned out that my serious posts are the favorites of those who joined.
So the winner, as chosen by me, Meg and KimKim is Jheff of ShadesofWanderer. I guess we don’t need to explain why he was chosen as his answer was really interesting.
Once again, thank you everyone and hope that on my next anniversary, I could giveaway a hotel stay in the Maldives (ha ha wishful thinking).
August has been a fun blogging month because of you guys!
I’d love to hear from you!
