Just type ‘blogging tips’ on google and you’ll definitely find tons of articles which says almost the same thing. I’m not saying I’m so different but what’s on my list is a little bit personal. Things that I learned from when I started blogging till date.
Read And Write
These two are the basic yet the most important rule in blogging. Read and gain more knowledge. Write and further enhance your skills.
Write Something Different From Time To Time
They said, focus on your strengths as a writer. That’s true. But try to write something different once in a while. Write a short story instead of a poem. Write a poem instead of personal essay. Try moving out of your writing-comfort zone. You’ll be surprised at what you could come up with.
Write Something You Would Want To Read
We write to please ourselves, to ease our burdens or to share our experiences. As a lot of bloggers and writers said, write for yourself and not for anyone else. However, sometimes we get conscious about what the readers might say about our work. It’s normal. Sometimes we ask ourselves, ‘would people read this post?’Or we might say, ‘this post is rubbish,’ and off it goes to the recycle bin. Sometimes we (or most probably I) write nonsensical things, or we write something good but we are not quite sure if it is good enough. If you are unsure, here’s what you need to do:
Read your draft. Then ask yourself, ‘is this something I would read?’ If the answer is yes, then hit the publish button.
Learn How To Socialize But At The Same Time Be Sincere
There’s nothing wrong in hitting the like button or leaving a comment on someone else’s post. By doing this, you (a) make another blogger’s day and (b) you can start an e-conversation with another blogger. Just don’t be the annoying-spam-type-likers-and-commenters. These are the bloggers who will follow you so you would follow them back and then flood-like your posts even without reading them just to get your attention.
Read posts and hit the like button if you really like them, not just for the sake of liking it. Leave a sincere comment, not a spam.
Collaborate
Socialize, find new blogger friends and maintain good relationship with them. Ask if they would be interested in a collaboration. It is a good exercise.
Be Authentic
Every other blogger have reviewed so and so product. Every other blogger have visited so and so place. Every other blogger have given opinions on this issue or that. So what’s new with what you will write?
You might write about a product, a place or an issue that other bloggers have written about, but what sets you apart is your story.
Share your story and make the blog post or article really yours.
Find An Inspiration
We all look up to one or two (or more) amazing bloggers. Read their posts and check out how they run their blog. Don’t imitate. Never copy. Just learn from them.
Never Forget The 10,000 Hour Rule
***
I’ve learned all of these from my own experiences but these may not be applicable to all. I’m still not that pro in blogging and I’m still learning a lot. I’d love to learn with you all.
I’d love to hear from you!
